How I Rate Wine
My rating system is based on Robert Parker’s rating system as well as letter grades which serve to simplify the results.
A+ (98 – 100) Exceptional. Best of the best, so incredible you consider taking it to bed. The quintessential representation of the wine.
A (94 – 97) Sensational. A wine with terrific complexity and style.
A˗ (90 – 93) Outstanding. Wines of this quality and above are often saved for personal occasions or given as an extra special gift.
B+ (87 – 89) Excellent. Full flavors and characteristics that are noticeable even to untrained palates.
B (84 – 86) Great. Well-made wine with recognizable characteristics.
B˗ (80 – 83) Good. Pleasant to drink.
C (70 – 79) Average. Lacking the flair or distinction found in higher-rated wines.
D or F (0 – 69) Yuck. Friends don’t let friends drink this wine and good hosts never serve it. Noticeable flaws present.
Although I stand by my ratings, they are my own and I encourage all who imbibe to drink what you like and try to learn a little something with every glass!
