Did you know that on average people break their New Year resolutions within six weeks?
So, basically, the OPPOSITE of what you want happens. You begin the year feeling good and thinking you are going to take the world by storm, then the motivation peters out, pffft!
The truth is, most people set themselves up for failure with grand sweeping gestures and unrealistic expectations, like losing 40 pounds by Valentine’s Day and going to the gym twice a day.
How about we set some resolutions that we can keep!

Resolution No. 1 – Be Heart Healthy
Drink one glass of wine a day!
The USDA recommends women have up to one glass of wine per day and men up to two. Studies have shown that drinking in moderation may provide several benefits including raising healthy cholesterol levels and reducing blood clots.
The hard part can be stopping at one glass.
*Tip – Don’t leave wine open for days on end, use a Wine Saver Bottle Stopper to keep wine fresh for up to two weeks!
Resolution No. 2 – Try Something New
Have you ever had a Salice Salentino made from the Negroamaro grape in Puglia, Italy? A Muscadet made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape of the Loire Valley? How about a dessert wine made from the ancient grape of Tokaji from Hungary?
This year make it a point to try a wine you’ve never heard of or have always wondered about. It needn’t be expensive either, I found a bottle of Salice Salentino at Fred Meyer recently for $12! Head to the import aisle of your grocery store or local wine shop and see what catches your eye! Then Instagram it and hashtag #wherethewineis so I can see it too!
Resolution No. 3 – Spend More Time with Friends
Did someone say happy hour?!
I get that we’re all busy. Between work, kids, and all the life in between, you’re constantly being pulled in a million directions. You have the best of intentions to see your friends and stay involved in your community, but soon find yourself having not spent time with anyone in over a month. Or longer.
The relationships in your life are important. Find one hour a month to meet up with your peeps for a happy hour or Saturday morning mimosa. Catch up and enjoy an adult beverage!
Resolution No. 4 – Go Somewhere You Have Never Been
For some people the thought of visiting a winery seems like an exotic notion that must be thoughtfully planned out months in advance. That’s appropriate if your destination is out of state, but I encourage you to look locally especially if you are in an urban area to find tasting rooms that can be visited on a whim. You may not even know what’s right next door!

Resolution No. 5 – Treat Yo Self!
Just do it. Spend $$$ on a bottle of wine occasionally. Not every day. Not every occasion. But, for example…
Out to dinner with your spouse and see a bottle over $30 that looks delish?
Treat yo self.
Visiting a boutique winery and want to buy the amazing bottle that you tasted?
Treat yo self.
Planning a fancy meal and have an ideal, but slightly expensive pairing in mind?
Treat yo self.
You get the idea! I mean, you only live once yo.
Hopefully you are feeling inspired by these five resolutions. They’re awesome goals that are not only fun and full of wine, but will also challenge you to enrich your life experiences. Spend time with your tribe, your partner, or yourself. You are going to rock this year babe!

Thank you, I especially like the “Spend more time with friends”. We often get so wrapped up in work and chores that we lose contact with people who bring us joy. Wine sharing is a fun way to connect.
